Earth Fare announces that it has received a significant equity investment from Monitor Clipper Partners in conjunction with the recapitalization of the business

ASHEVILLE, NC (August 3, 2006) - Earth Fare, a supermarket retailer with 13 stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee, announced that it has completed a recapitalization of the Company in which Monitor Clipper Partners made an equity investment. Monitor Clipper manages over $1.5 billion of capital and makes private equity investments. The recapitalization will enable Earth Fare to expand its store base throughout the Southeastern U.S. Earth Fare was advised by investment banking firm Hadley Partners (www.hadleypartners.com)

According to Datamonitor, the organic food sector is growing at a rate of approximately 20% annually, compared to just 3% for conventional foods.
